How Did You Make That?
My project is presented in three formats: a digital “game” on a laptop; printed ‘zines; and a CD player and CDs. Although the media are different, the content delivered is structured around sameness. My project presents a discussion on how art production, and its correlative labor, has changed throughout the ages. The focus is upon the material reception of content and the various incompatibilities resulting from media transformation that are suppressed through the reorganization created by technology.
The work is instrumental. It operates as a statistical data collection device. Information is obtained through audience interaction regarding medium preference in terms of accessibility and rates of consumption. Post-exhibition the project will process data pertaining to itself, and gain momentum as it re-determines form based on interactively generated data.
